Garnett & Beverly: Listen to Our Music
Born Innocent
(Daugherty/Hundley)
2005-12-19
They say that Jesus died for our sins
That's where the trouble begins
A life of shame was to be our fate.
But if he were here today
I'm sure that he'd like to say
A word or two, to set the record straight.
He'd say you are
Born innocent
Surely you are heaven sent
And all that talk about fire and hell, well,
It's nothing more than little fairy tales
'Cuz if you read between the lines
There lies the truth and it will blow your mind
You'll see like me, you truly are Divine.
Way back in Sunday school
They talked about the Golden rule
Love your God, your neighbor, as yourself
But Jesus loves me, this I know
No one has to tell me so
But so does Buddha, and Krishna, and Allah too!
They'd say we are
born innocent
Surely we are heaven sent
Let me reiterate
We're here to love and not to hate
'Cuz if you look deep inside
You'll find the truth and it'll blow your mind
You'll see like me, you truly are Divine.
This all would make a lot more sense
If we'd would lighten up and not be so dense
We're here to love, to brighten up the world
Jesus said it's 'cuz the kingdom's within
Each and every one of us human beins'
That's you and me - let's give this thing a whirl.
'Cuz we are,
Born innocent
Surely we are heaven sent
Let me say it one more time
Ain't no pitchfork aimed at your behind
If you look deep inside
You'll find the truth and it'll blow your mind
You'll see, like me, you truly are Divine
You'll see, like me, you truly are Divine!
