Garnett & Beverly: News

I'm sure it's summer!

We're back from an amazing adventure in South America; Ecuador and Peru with the fabulously, musically fluent Nathan Hundley Brown. Machu Picchu is indeed a wonder of the ages, Lake Titikaka and the 'floating islands' a wonder of human ingenuity, and the country and peoples both grand and charming.
It's good to be home, especially to recoup from some air-borne invaders. It was nice to return to gorgeous, warm weather and the luscious colors and fragrances of early summer - Seattle is truly beautiful!! We're now looking forward to a bit of our 'normal' rain and some help with watering the gardens.
We're scheduled in Seattle as often as possible, traveling some - and hoping to see you soon. Check out our Photo Gallery for new pics - and our Calendar Dates for anything local.

Macchu Picchu - here we come!

Garnett and Beverly leave on May 18 for a couple weeks of travel in Ecuador and Peru, with Nathan, Garnett's son (junior at Boston University, studying in Quito, Ecuador). We're gathering our malaria meds, our walking shoes, our "must fit in one bag" outfits - and readying to hit the road. We'll be back on June 3 - so will be posting some pics once we're back. Come see us (check out the calendar) when we return. Happy Spring. Gracias - and Adios!!

Spring has sprung!

It sun'd, it rained, then it snowed. One thing for sure - it's the NW and one is never sure what to expect. I have noted that the daffodils and crocus and cherry blossoms have taken no note of the snow and are determined to bloom in their own good time - regardless!!
We're gearing up for some travel and outreach: Portland, around the Sound, then to South America mid-May; Quito, Ecuador, Machu Picchu and Lake Titikaka (Bev just likes the sound of that one) in Peru - and wherever else the spirit and Garnett's son, Nathan, take us.
We've had a winter of hibernation and rejuvenation and are ready to take on the spring - and ready to see you. Check out the calendar for anything nearby.

Off to Italy!!

We're off to sing for the Italians! We were invited to perform at the Seattle Sister City Festival in Perugia from May 28-June 3, so - of course we accepted. We leave late on May 22 and return on June 13 - to Garnett's new CD. The recording, the art, the mastered disc are off - and when we return, voila - like magic, we'll have CDs for you. It's called "Right Here, Right Now" - a title idea from Michael Oliver. These are quieter songs that will help you deepen your spiritual practice and allow you to stay there for at least 45 minutes!! Look for more information on this beautiful new offering once we return. For now, enjoy this gorgeous, typical Seattle spring - and get your basil ready for planting.

Ciao!

HERE COMES THE SUN!!!

It's true - I've seen it. Here comes the sun, the crocus, the cherry blossoms, the weeds, a flock of birds - it's spring. Oh, I spoke too soon - here comes the wind and the rain again. Ah well, it's all good - and all the juice of spring returns!!
Garnett is focusing on getting her solo CD project completed this spring, with Garnett and Beverly re-focusing on their project once the solo project is complete. With the light comes re-growth and energy and exciting possibilities and amazing discoveries. Enjoy this juicy time. Come play with us whenever the spirit moves you - and time allows.

FALL-ing forward!

Seattle is ablaze with color - a vibrancy of reds and oranges that's usually only seen in the east. Make sure to visit the Seattle Arboretum soon - it's breathtaking. And the clear skies and that moon - classic fall nights.
We're still in the studio every Monday, chipping away at our two CDs - yes, two. We've discovered just how difficult it is to work full-time day-jobs, sing week-ends and assume we might fast-pace through a project. We can't. We've revised our release dates for after the new year. BUT, Beverly is re-pressing her much-beloved "Sunday Best" and Garnett is making available the CD she made for her dad's 89th birthday, "Hymns for Him" - traditional hymns. Folks who attend or ever attended traditional church services will be delighted with the selections.
The calendar is updated, the schedule is full - and we hope to see you some time very soon.
To a HAPPY HALLOWEEN and a wonderful THANKSGIVING to us all...in joy, in wonder, in d'light. Blessings!

It's summer - it's really summer. We made it safely back from fabulous Australia (pictures in the Photo Gallery) having had a full and amazing journey - BACK TO THE STUDIO - then to Garnett's father's 90th birthday in Virginia with the entire extended family (photos in Gallery); a bit overwhelming, but wonderful. And now - back to the studio. We've been narrowing the field of 'final' choices for this new CD and have decided there are nearly enough tunes left on the cutting room floor to create a 2nd one. We'll see! You'll see!
We're working hard to stay focused on our current project and taking less outside work - so please check out our Calendar and come see us when we're singing 'out.'
Enjoy Amazing Seattle!! Every time we leave and return, we're struck by what a spectacular place on the earth we've been lucky enough to land.
Peace to all us BE-ings!

Springing into Summer

Check the Photo Gallery for some shots from the April 20-22 Women's Retreat on Orcas Island with Mary Mannin Morrissey and Rickie Byars-Beckwith. What a fabulous gathering of women; inspiring, fun and deeply moving. Why, even Rev. Bev showed up for an hilarious surprise appearance.

We decided to make a quick side tour en route back to Seattle from Orcas to take in the Skagit Valley tulips. They are still going strong and absolutely glorious! Check out the photos!

Back in the STUDIO!! We've taken care of business and are now able to re-focus on our newest project. We head into the creative stew of the recording studio April 29-30, working with the wonderful Rob Cook, Miriam Shames, Mike Eytcheson, Zach Barnhart and James Howard. We recorded 8 tunes over a year ago on Bainbridge Island, and will add 6-8 new songs this session. We'll have enough to pick and choose our favorites of the moment. Our intention is to have this completed and in-hand before this year ends.

A dream come true? Yes!! We're heading to AUSTRALIA. With Garnett's Boston University freshman-graduate son, Nathan, we leave from LAX on May 20, arrive in Sydney May 22, to Brisbane May 26, and back to Seattle June 8. While in Brisbane we'll perform a concert, and sing for services at a small, new-thought church. We'll post pictures of sailing the Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef as soon as we return...promise.

In the meantime, we're loving the occasional warmth, the riotous colors, the earlier morning and later evening light - and the joy of open doors! Truly, truly - with Gratitude and Joy we welcome this season of returning light - and any time we get to spend with you. Viva la Light!!

Garnett & Beverly's January News

January 18, 2007

The Holidays were a joyful time of song and meaningful gatherings with friends and family for us. A highlight was a beautiful and inspiring time of worship and music with Rev. John McLean at the Unity of Bellevue Christmas Candlelighting services.

We are currently in not-so-sunny Mexico (at least there’s no snow!) having a great time at the CSL retreat, and will be arriving back in Seattle on Sunday the 21st to work and play – Garnett with Susan Bardsley at Unity of Woodinville and Beverly at Unity of Bellevue.

We are looking forward to singing in the New Year with Mary Mannin Morrissey on Thursday, January 25th at Unity of Bellevue and we hope to see you there. Please see our website calendar at www.garnettandbeverly.com for details.

Now that the Holidays are behind us, it can be easy to get submerged in the grayness of winter. One of the best cures we have found for this is to listen to some really good, uplifting music. If you don’t already have one of our CD’s, we invite you to go to our website at www.garnettandbeverly.com and click on the “Buy Our CD’s” and “Listen to Our Music” links.

We hope 2007 is filled with good things for you and yours.

News of the Season

Wow -- that was quite a storm we had in the Pacific Northwest on the 14th. Over one million people were without power for several days - a very difficult situation for a lot of us. We hope that your lights are on, that you're warm and well and looking forward to some time off
with family and friends. If the storm caught you, and you were off-line and now off-schedule with your holiday shopping -- there's
still time to purchase music. Give the gift of GAB (Garnett & Beverly) and have it shipped directly to your favorite folks in time for Christmas, http://www.garnettandbeverly.com.

We had a wonderful time working and playing with Rev. Linda Spencer and all the wonderful folks at Unity of Santa Barbara on December
10th. It was delightful to walk on the beach and see palm trees in December - some strung with Christmas tree lights.

The Christmas concert at Seattle Unity on the 13th was truly awesome.
Erin McGaughan created a community outreach that benefited all who performed and who attended, and also supported the designated
charities: the HAAS Foundation, ACLU, Cancer Camp for Kids, and Gilda's Club of Seattle, our designee. We raised over $400 for Gilda's Club. Thanks to all of you for your attendance, energy and donation. It was way fun!!

We also want to let you know about some upcoming events filled with warmth and music. Please see our website at
http://www.garnettandbeverly.com for more details.

October News

Merry Christmas!

Just kidding. But seriously, it's none too soon to start thinking about Christmas gifts, and right on top of your list should be a copy of our Christmas CD for everyone -- including yourself! Check out the review we received: http://www.garnettandbeverly.com/press.html
And, of course, our other CD's make great gifts, too. We have a friend who says whenever she has household chores to do, she just puts on our "Live Flat Out" CD and thoroughly enjoys doing them!

We're still basking in the glow of a wonderful time of sharing music with out dear friends at Unity of Bellevue on October 8th and are looking forward to making new friends at Unity of Santa Barbara in December. Check our website calendar to get details of upcoming performances.

September News

It was an incredible summer, and now that the kids are back in school, we’re getting down to work, too.

Our new CD is taking shape in wonderful ways with the help of some amazing people. Here are a few of the titles to give you an idea of what’s coming:
"Someone is Praying for You" by Erin McGaughan
"Out Beyond" set to music by Eric O'del
"God is Within and Without" - Garnett & Beverly

Beverly will be leading the Unity of Bellevue congregation in song on September 17th and on October 8th we will both be there with Rabbi Ted Falcon to commemorate Rev. John McLean’s ordination as Senior Minister. Hope you can join us!

Summer in Seattle!!

Ain't life grand!? We live in one of the most glorious areas in the whole world - and summer is certainly a show-off season; mountains, water, lush greens, warm days/cool nights, boats and kites, outdoor seating and convertibles. Having just returned from the hot and humid east, we're all the more appreciative of the NW....even though we've been having some pretty HOT weather ourselves.
We had a terrific time last month at the Everett Summer Concert Series. Playing music with James, Mike, Sean and David (with special guest Lori Sandoval) was so much fun. We felt like rock stars!! If you haven't been to Forest Park in Everett, you're missing a rare treat. Check out the website - http://www.ci.everett.wa.us/default.aspx?ID=1025 and the Concert Series, which runs through August.
We're enjoying the summer, enjoying working on the new CD, which has a projected release date of fall/winter 2006 - and enjoying seeing all of you whenever possible.

Spring Equinox update

If you’ve seen us recently you may have noticed a few new freckles. We spent time in mid-late Feb. supporting the Center for Spiritual Living’s retreat on the Baja Peninsula in Mexico. We had nearly two weeks of sun, sand, wonderful companions, time for deep work and lots of fun. Arribaa!

Early March found us in Fairfield, CA, near Sacramento, supporting an auction for Archway Recovery Services, a recovery house being run by Beverly’s long-time friend, Julie Lake. They exceeded their "fantasy goal" and had a good time in the process. We may find ourselves with a new career in auctioneering if we’re not careful.

We spent the following Sunday with Rev. David Brenner at the Center for Spiritual Living in San Jose, CA; a wonderful church community with The Four Fab Davids in the core line-up and one fabulous Jamie.

We’ll be in Phoenix on April 1 and Las Vegas on April 2, supporting the "Purpose, Passion and Power" Workshop with Mary Mannin Morrissey, Cherie Carter Scott and Suzy Prudden; three powerful and dynamic women. Check our calendar for more details.

Our intention for April/May is to complete the 3rd Garnett & Beverly CD; 6 of the tracks were recorded at Trillium Studio on Bainbridge in October and we've just recently completed 2 more tunes - ready for vocals. We’re pleased with the sounds and excited with the work. You're going to be very happy with this CD.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, July 9, the Everett Concert Series. We’ll have more information on the website when available. For now, we’re considering this our album release concert for CD #3.

Happy New Year!

With completion of "Christmas", we began recording our third CD, with an expected release date of Spring 2006. This project has more inwardly focused, prayer-filled material. Your response to this music has been tremendous.

We took a break late November/early December to support a retreat/tour to Eqypt hosted by the Center for Spiritual Living...a trip of a life-time. Check out the pictures in the Photo Gallery.

Life is good!
